Reserved in Heaven

"To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you." I Peter 1:4 KJV

I Peter 1:4-5 are great treasures on the doctrine of eternal security.

Those who teach that a person can lose salvation or fall from grace do not understand what grace is. We are saved by grace, the undeserving favor of God. Since it is God that brings salvation, it is eternal and forever. We that are saved are preserved in Him.

Our text verse tells us that we first have an inheritance. Other scripture tells us that we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. When we think of an inheritance we think of some possession left to us at someone’s death. The saved of the Lord have an inheritance of glory and eternal life in heaven.

This gift is incorruptible and undefiled and fadeth not away. It will never die or go away. Thank God it is reserved in heaven for us. The word reserved means to guard by keeping an eye upon, to prevent escaping, it also implies a fortress or full military line of defense.

This is how safe our inheritance in heaven is.

The next verse tells us we are kept not by our works, but by the power of God. Amen!
